AVAILABLE ARTWORKS BY RODRIGO ZAMPOL
Umbra Series
Fear and insecurity came uninvited to keep me company. Suddenly it became necessary to release the sensations that surrounded me day and night. At times the artist felt as if he were sitting in the darkness of a shadow. But he was not alone, the whole world was with him. Get it out there, his mind told him. And he did. As if he wanted to record time, he made art. Zampol gave freedom so that, upon encountering the surface, the materials would follow their paths. The organic forms that emerged, from a planned chance, were like abstract pieces of a part of him.
Ragisména Series
The Ragisména series, which in Greek means cracked, has its materiality manifested through the desire to recreate and make feelings, memories and mythology tangible in the physical world. The works have their core connected to Dehlos, a ruined island bathed by the Aegean Sea, created by Poseidon, so that Leto could have his children Apollo and Artemis in a protected land. Known for being a sacred place, Dehlos was the most important Panhellenic sanctuary almost 3 thousand years ago. In an equation between mythology and abstraction,
volumes, cracks, lights and shadows come together in matter. The Ragisména work in aluminum is the result of an artistic and artisanal process that dates back to antiquity, when people used fire to shape metal. Casting consists of heating the metal until it becomes liquid and then pouring it into a mold of the work. After cooling, the mold is removed and the piece is polished. In this way, the foundry immortalizes in matter the work conceived by the artist, giving life to his vision and expression.
Works on Paper Series
In this series, water and pigments dance in a liquid choreography, intertwining and painting their own destinies. Each brushstroke traces ephemeral paths that are born, intersect and disappear. Just like life, the work is not limited to beginnings and endings, but celebrates the constant flow, transformation and fleeting beauty of the path taken.
