AVAILABLE ARTWORKS BY HUNTER & GATTI

My Way Series

These works are part of the MY WAY project, a trip with the actress Adria Arjona to Tokyo and Thailand, these paintings recover the essence of a series of traditional ceremonies lived and documented in those two countries.

Lous and The Yakuza Series

This project is with Louis Vuitton and the stylist Carine Roitfeld and Madame Figaro, starring the Belgian singer Lous and the Yakuza. All the looks Lous is wearing are designed by Nicolas Ghesquière for Louis Vuitton, for his part, is interested in the uncertain ground between the past, present, and future. “I like the figure of a vampire who travels through the ages, adapting to dress codes of the era”.

Hunter & Gatti celebrates with color the powerful energy of Lous and The Yakuza. The “dots” symbolize the presence of the artist's photography eye and mind coming to grips with the world via an extended hand and brush beyond the photography.

The Infinite Series

The “visible” spectrum, is probably the most well-known of human sensory limitations, as the human #eye is only capable of perceiving light at wavelengths between 390 and 750 nanometers. Of course, calling it the “visible” spectrum is a bit of a misnomer, as plenty of animals are capable of perceiving light with frequencies outside this relatively narrow band of electromagnetic radiation.

Using infrared black and white photography, the images shift, as you just saw, the greens become almost white and the blues a dramatic dark. The colors are not distorted, a different part of the spectrum is simply captured, it is another reality, it totally differs from the reality we know, that is why cameras and films have been always prepared to eliminate ultraviolet and infrared light, so that their results is the one that human eye sees, and that´s what we change.

Opposed Tendencies Series

I will make you a Star Series

is a series of works by Hunter & Gatti that reflects their desire to bring together photography and painting in one format. The artistic duo was inspired by Jean-Michel Basquiat's neo-expressionist paintings, and more particularly by a specific incident in his career: the moment that art dealer Rene Ricard spotted Basquiat's work at a party and promised him that he would make him a star. When Basquiat's work started to become famous, the art world was living a very special moment. New York's art scene was overflowing with charismatic people and having a strong public persona was a major influence in the way one's work was perceived. Despite the fact that Basquiat's art was undoubtedly unique, his image, his aesthetic, and his personality contributed the most to his success. Hunter & Gatti wanted to pay tribute to Basquiat's legacy by merging the celebrity portraits they have made in the past for fashion editorials and campaigns, featuring the most iconoclastic members of today's scene with Basquiat's inspired paintings that transcend the limits of the art world and form part of our collective unconsciousness - just like the famous faces of their photos. Their idea was to create a series of original hybrids that explore the limits of popular culture. We may recognize the identity of the celebrities that are hidden behind the layers of paint, but at the same time we are left perplexed by the new faces that have emerged and this contradiction is the essence of "I will make you a star”.

Live Forever Series

In LIVE FOREVER, the all-new series of acrylic and oil pastel on pigment print, Hunter & Gatti engage with the discursive and artistic discoveries of two major pillars of contemporary art. We find Basquiat’s schematic but deeply striking iconography, together with a Warholian study of the mechanical reproduction of an image, where each singular reproduction is made unique by its intervention in paint.

The Fact Sheet Series

The artist's technique consists of the use of two prints, the first print is the original photography, and the second print is a blurry version of the image printed on glass. The glass version of the picture is shattered with an iron tool to be able to control the rupture. The artists glued the glass parts on top of the original picture, creating a blurred effect.

Nothing Stays Still Series

Series titled "Nothing Stays Still", where they keep questioning the fashion photography industry by creating a new visual identity of their images moving them away from their origin, as a vehicle for testing ideas and as a form of interrogation of the creative process itself, through this series.

ALL IS FLUX Series

Inspired by the power traditionally attributed to image, Hunter & Gatti wanted their works to perpetuate the wildfire velocity of fashion and the fast cycle of this industry which voraciously consumes any of the images they have created. In response, H&G started re-working celebrity portraits: taking recognizable faces that idealize the work, to give them a new origin, exploring concepts in perception, change, and identity, and playing with the tension between the material and the photography. Change is the only way to keep their pictures alive. All is flux, nothing stays still.

IWMYAS Series

Hunter & Gatti wanted to pay tribute to the neo-expressionist Jane-Michel Basquiat's legacy by merging the celebrity portraits they had made in the past for fashion editorials and campaigns, featuring the most iconoclastic members of today's fashion scene, with Basquiat's paintings that transcend the limits of the art world and form part of our collective unconsciousness - just like the famous faces of their photos. Their idea was to create a series of original hybrids that explore the limits of popular culture, reflecting, at the same time, fashion’s ongoing interest in the art world.

The Muse Series

Hunter & Gatti decontextualized the original photo depicting the otherworldly beauty of Leanna Decker, exploring how it could be transformed into something completely different, yet visually stimulating and concise. In order to achieve their goal, they experimented with different media, cotton rag watercolor paper, blending digital printing, painting and different wax applications to convert their Muse into a fountain of endless inspiration.

Blue Series Series

Series titled "BLUE", where they keep questioning the fashion photography industry by creating a new visual identity of their images moving them away from their origin, as a vehicle for testing ideas and as a form of interrogation of the creative process itself, through this series.
