Carla Gimbatti’s sculptures are inspired by nature, by a texture, an image, a color, and seek to expand from them. The artists seek to observe, live, register so that later she can create works with another materiality. How to bring nearer remote and beautiful places? How to share them? In life, Gimbatti’s encounters landscapes, patterns, and bodies. Immense places, tiny details. Repeating patterns with perfectly imperfect geometries. Both in nature and in our bodies what we have experienced is engraved, and the context to which they and we were exposed. Ancient sediments, one layer after another, telling us what happened on our planet.  Hands register in their palm our stories. She strives to make visible everything we have in common and what differentiates us in our structures. She finds excuses to feel, touch, imagine landscapes that hypnotize, communicate and alert us. Contact in a remote context, almost inaccessible, allows her to invent, to go towards a new way and to later inhabit everyday spaces and moments through her work. Travelling is part of her research. Experiences, sketches, an open studio, a laboratory; She goes outside and goes back to the inside. Other times it takes the opposite direction, it is born in the studio and she looks for it to come out, always generating a new path. Molds, modules, individual pieces in various materials that, together, create different shapes that expand the field of what is possible. Fragmentation as a starting point for a continuous, permanent expansion.

Cuerpos Magnéticos Series

Cuerpos Magnéticos was born searching for the relationship between nature and our bodies, attraction and rejection. We see rocks, bones, structures, flexibility, spaces, movement, stillness. Cuerpos Magnéticos is a dynamic work where each piece reflects individuality and, at the same time, the relationship with the others. It adapts, as in life, to the situation or the surface where it lives.

Reliefs Series

This striking artwork features three elongated, vertical panels, each uniquely textured with a rugged, charred surface reminiscent of burnt wood. The composition showcases an interplay between smoothed and jagged segments, creating a rich tapestry of contrasts. The artist employs monochromatic tones, encouraging the observer to focus on the intricate surfaces. The juxtaposition of light and shadow enhances the tactile quality, inviting viewers to explore the depth and complexity of each panel. The arrangement is both harmonious and dynamic, with subtle linear elements subtly guiding the gaze. This piece exemplifies a masterful use of texture and form, evoking a sense of resilience and transformation. It embodies a minimalist aesthetic while conveying profound emotional resonance, capturing the raw essence of natural elements reshaped by external forces.
