Fear and insecurity came uninvited to keep me company. Suddenly it became necessary to release the sensations that surrounded me day and night. At times the artist felt as if he were sitting in the darkness of a shadow. But he was not alone, the whole world was with him. Get it out there, his mind told him. And he did. As if he wanted to record time, he made art. Zampol gave freedom so that, upon encountering the surface, the materials would follow their paths. The organic forms that emerged, from a planned chance, were like abstract wall sculpture of a part of him.

Born in Rio de Janeiro and raised in São Paulo, Rodrigo Zampol has always been attracted to the arts. An architect by training, and with a strong presence in the world of visual arts, he plays with different types of materials and textures, seeking visual results that are almost always unexpected.
Zampol uses different materials in his work, such as metal, paper, leather, plaster, and different types of pigments. His works reflect his personal experience, his worldview, and his research on human history, from ancient civilizations to the present day.
