Ramonn Vieitez is a self-taught Brazilian artist who primarily utilizes painting as a field of creative possibility, compulsively producing works of astonishing lyricism, melancholy, and, perhaps most importantly, sincerity. As a queer individual, he playfully engages with a stunning variety of references but shares the conviction that painting can yield intimate and revelatory forms of expression.
His works convey a sense of energy and movement, existing between figuration and imagined landscapes – they serve as windows to luminous, vibrant, and melancholic places. His production arises from the desire for understanding and the construction of an honest memory, a quest to reveal suppressed desires and lost truths.
The artist has participated in several individual exhibitions, such as at the Museu do Homem do Nordeste (Brazil, Recife) MEB - Centro Cultural Mercado Eufrasio Barbosa (Brazil, Olinda) and at the Amparo 60, Baró and Portas Vilaseca galleries; He also participated in several group exhibitions, including “SEMPRENUNCA Fomos Modernos” at the Museu do Estado de Pernambuco (MEPE) and “Atentxs e Fortes - 50 Anos de Stonewall” at the Casa de Cultura da América Latina DEX/Unb, “Ao Amor do público I - Doações da ArtRio (2012-2015) e MinC/Funarte” at the Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR), and it is in collections such as that of the Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR), Museu de Arte Moderna (MAM-Rio), Arte Al Límite at Santiago de Chile, Fondazione Benetton Studi Ricerche among others.
